What a two-person business actually needs from IT.
A small business needs dependable accounts, recoverable files, and a clear record of who manages each service. These are the areas we check first.
Protect your sign-ins
Use separate business accounts and enable multifactor authentication, especially for email, banking, and administrator access. Keep recovery details current and remove access when someone leaves.
Test your backups
List the places your important files live, including laptops and cloud services. Check what is backed up, how often, and who can restore it. Test a restore before you need one.
Keep software updated
Review updates for computers, phones, website software, and network equipment. Automate routine updates where appropriate and make someone responsible for checking failures.
Check email authentication
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC help receiving systems check mail sent from your domain. They reduce some spoofing risks, but do not guarantee inbox delivery or prevent every impersonation attempt.
Record the setup
Keep a shared record of domains, renewal dates, providers, and account owners. Store credentials in a business password manager and keep the documentation up to date.
Add tools for a specific need
Start with the services your team uses and the risks you need to address. A small, well-maintained setup is easier to support than a collection of overlapping subscriptions.
